Dr. Willow Holmes
& Stride Equine
Dr. Willow Holmes grew up on a ranching operation and knew from a very young age that veterinary medicine was her calling. She attended WCVM in Saskatoon, followed by an internship at Moore Equine in Calgary.
For 5 years she practiced at Kamloops Large Animal Veterinary Clinic for part of the year and wintered in sunny Arizona, focusing heavily on equine sports medicine with Stanton Equine.
In 2024, Dr. Holmes founded Stride Equine Veterinary Services to serve performance horse owners and their equine athletes across British Columbia.
Her favourite part of the job is helping horses feel and perform to the best of their ability, so they can thrive in the sport they love. There’s nothing more rewarding to Dr. Holmes than receiving those “Sunday Update” messages from clients sharing how well their horses did over the weekend.
When she’s not working, you’ll almost always find her in the saddle and working on her own equine athletes. She spends nearly all of her free time riding colts and team roping with aspirations of one day stepping into working cow horse world.
Dr. Holmes continues to collaborate with veterinary peers across Western Canada and the US. She is dedicated to her clients and to expanding her knowledge of equine sports medicine.
